10. Cape Town Has Never Seen a Show Quite Like This!
The first annual Cape Town Carnival in March 2010 will be the first ever carnival of its kind, not only in Cape Town, but in South Africa! Make sure you make your way down to the Cape Town Carnival so you don’t miss out on this momentous occasion in Cape Town’s history.
9. Floats of Epic Proportions – 2 Stories High, Now That’s Epic!
Don’t just watch it on TV; see the massive floats up-close-and-personal. Trust us you’ll want to be there to see this extraordinary show come to life right in front of your eyes. A team of designers and volunteers will work tirelessly to get the floats ready for the big Carnival Parade taking place on 20 March 2010.
8. Be Amazed by the Visual Spectacle of 10 000 Participants in Elaborate Costumes
You’ve never seen costumes like these – be amazed by the glitz and creativity that Cape Town has to offer. Expect feathers (lots and lots of feathers), dazzling colours, hats galore and enough sequins to cover the length of Long Street.
7. Six Original Songs
Make sure not to miss out on the performances of the 6 original South African songs written especially for the Cape Town Carnival. Each group performing will present their original song to the crowd and the judges.
6. Larger than life puppets
Bring the family to see the amazing puppet display at the Carnival and get set to witness sights you’ve only seen on TV, from the likes of the famous RIO Carnival and New York City Parades. The Carnival will feature uniquely Capetonian puppets to showcase the uniqueness of Cape Town and South Africa.

Strut your stuff at the official Cape Town Carnival Fashion Show taking place on 18 March 2010. Mingle with the who’s who of the South African fashion scene as you watch the designs from some of Cape Town’s best designers whiz past on the catwalk.

Watch the celebrities as they model the carnival inspired garments designed by some of Cape Town’s top designers. You can even go home with your very own piece of the Carnival as the garments will be auctioned off to the public!
2. Have a night of Glitz and Glam at the Cape Town Carnival Grand Ball
Get your hats, feather boas and dancing shoes ready, and be a part of the prestigious new annual Cape Town Carnival Ball.
