The Table Bay Hotel

This five star hotel in the V&A Waterfront boasts with its location, and timeless style

Each room has a view, whether it’s of the working harbour, the Atlantic Ocean or the fynbos-covered mountain. The Table Bay Hotel is also well known for its breakfast; with over 250 items on the morning menu. Good views and good food go hand-in-hand with a good stay, so let’s discover this 15-year-old Cape Town hotel. Based at the V&A Waterfront: the Table Bay’s slogan 'best address in Cape Town' makes perfect sense.

The grand welcoming lounge has an international hotel feel, which this hotel truly is, with its excellent service record. Built on the old breakwater, there’s direct access to the Waterfront shopping centre. Find top class retail stores, restaurants, cinemas and more.

Not just for tourists though, The Table Bay Hotel is also a great experience for Capetonians. Why not come here on a lazy afternoon and enjoy high tea (daily from 2.30pm to 5.30pm)? A selection of fresh house teas, specialised coffees and homemade ice tea plus snacks such as, blueberry muffins, raisin scones, homemade jams, lemon curd, chocolate-peanut butter cake, red velvet cupcakes as well as savoury snacks such as, roasted parsnip, mushroom and cheese quiche or smoked salmon and asparagus quiche.

The interior is timeless. Contemporary Victorian with plenty of space. The 328 rooms, on eight floors, can accommodate many visitors. The rooms are welcoming with little presents from the chef and equipped with DStv, video, a mini bar, and a coffee-tea-station. Forget plain old room service, there’s 24 hour in-room dining that offers you a restaurant experience in the comfort of your suite.

Enjoy your stay in relaxed elegance

Choose from the different levels of rooms: standard twin rooms, standard king rooms, luxury rooms, superior suites, presidential suites etc. The Table Bay also has rooms equipped for people in wheelchairs.

The rooms are classic, fresh and elegant, and your little ones are welcome. In summer time, there’s even children‘s animation offered. The Table Bay has several venues for conferences, gala dinners and weddings; including a ballroom and a pavilion overlooking Robben Island and the harbour. If you’re here on a business trip you will enjoy the business area with internet access and small conference booths. 'Relax, you’re on a business trip.' is the slogan for the business area.

Treat yourself at the Camelot Spa, which offers a variety of treatments and is connected to a small gym. Outside you’ll find a salt water pool as well as Jacuzzi with a bar  area that also serves light lunches while you relax under the Cape Town sun.

A table to look over the bay

A great spot to hang out – as a tourist and local – is the Union Bar. The world maps on the wall and the naval feel will make you want to smoke a cigar. By the way, this is the only place at the Table Bay Hotel where smoking is allowed.

Head to the The Atlantic Grill for dinner, and prepared to be blown away by the seamless service and inventive menu. Plus, on Fridays and Saturdays there‘s live music. The Conservatory Restaurant is only open for dinners on Sunday and Monday when the Atlantic Grill is closed and gives you a great Cape Malay experience.

Being only a five minute drive from the Cape Town city centre and a 20-minute drive from the Cape Town International Airport, the Table Bay Hotel is the place to stay if you’re up for first class luxury and service.

Oh, and make sure to get a picture with Oscar the seal; a golden statue in front of the hotel. Engraved below his feet are names of famous people who have stayed in the hotel, Michelle Obama is one.
