7 great things to do in Cape Town this weekend

Our pick of seven of the best events and things to do in Cape Town this weekend from Friday 3 February to Sunday 5 February.

Pick any weekend of the year in Cape Town and you’re bound to find a host of events planned throughout the city. We’ve got music, rugby, a harvest festival and plenty more for you this week.

Theatre, live music, parties, exhibitions, special dinners – they’re all in the mix, and the best place to find what to do in Cape Town and surrounds can be found in our events section.

7 great things to do in and around Cape Town this weekend:

1. Up the Creek Festival
Awesome line-up of local bands, a creative floats competition and plenty of swimming and partying. Take some time off work and make the three or so hour drive to the Breede River in Swellendam on Thursday for this four day festival.

2. Cape Town Tens
If rugby is your game of choice then you’re going to want to make sure you’re at the Hamiltons Rugby Club in Green Point on Friday and Saturday.

3. World Press Photo Exhibition
Visit the Castle of Good Hope on Saturday to catch the World Press Photo Exhibition. It’s worth it not just for the amazing images but for the historical building they’re displayed in.

4. Robin Auld in Kalk Bay
Fans of this African blues singer won’t want to miss his Saturday night performance at the Kalk Bay Theatre. If you haven’t heard him before you can expect slide guitar, harmonica and soulful vocals.

5.
The Fringe Handmade Market
Spend Saturday morning at the Harrington Street parking lot in Cape Town browsing beautifully creative handmade goods from this city’s designers.

6. Blessings of the harvest at Môreson
Join Môreson Wine Estate on Saturday morning for a day of picking and squashing grapes followed by a harvest feast. The stunning wine estate is in Franschhoek, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town.

7. Flash Republic and Foto Na Dans @ Kirstenbosch
Don’t miss the ultimate Cape Town experience, watch the sun setting over the mountain as you enjoy two fantastic local bands. It’s the perfect way to wind down on a Sunday evening.

Got the Monday blues and nothing to chase them away with? Have a look at our pick of things to do on Mondays.
