Goldfish for New Year's Eve Concert at Kirstenbosch
Joining them for this Cape Town New Year's party will be Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels
With two of SA’s hottest party bands on the line-up, this year’s 94.5 Kfm and Drostdy-Hof annual New Year's Eve concert at Kirstenbosch promises to be better than ever.
The spectacular setting is the ideal place to see out the old and sing in the new with Goldfish and Dr Victor.
Goldfish (or the "Fishies" as they are fondly known to their legions of fans) is Dominic Peters and David Poole. Hailing from the Mother City, these unassuming surfer/jazz musician and electronic maniacs are one of the most exciting live electronica acts in the world.
Their rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric and with their combination of live instruments like double bass, saxophone, keyboards, flute, and vocals with samplers, effects, synthesisers plus a healthy dollop of freeform improvisation, Goldfish has hit a nerve on dance floors across the world.
Their multiple-instrument live act has seen sold out shows from Ibiza to Tokyo, Dubai and Cannes and they have opened for electronica giants Fatboy Slim, Mr Scruff, The Audio Bullys, Paul van Dyk, Pete Tong and Stereo MC's.
They are hailed as the re-invention of the DJ, and were voted best live act in South Africa.
One of the most popular bands and certainly one of the busiest, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels return to the Kirstenbosch stage for this annual event.
A veteran of the music circuit, Victor Khojane, or Dr Victor as he is more affectionately known, is the master of uplifting, up-tempo songs that have earned this singer, musician, songwriter and producer an enviable reputation both locally and internationally.
With their special brand of Afro-pop, R&B, reggae and traditional African music, this group will have you dancing the night away.
With his passion for songwriting, expect to hear some great new tracks from their latest album as well as old favourites.
His expertise has been influential in many African and South African artists and they have backed such icons as Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Lucky Dube, Paul Simon and Tina Turner.
