L'Ormarins Queen's Plate 2010
Be seen at one of the most prestigious annual horse racing events in Cape Town
On Saturday the 9th of January 2010, the Mother City's social scene will awaken to South Africa's most prestigious annual horse-racing event, the 148th running of the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate.
Kenilworth Race Course will be transformed into a setting where haute couture fashion, vintage cars, fine wine and the country's greatest thoroughbreds take centre stage.
A dazzling array of gourmet food stalls, plentiful totes for placing bets, elegant wine and champagne bars, and a specially constructed deck for an uninterrupted view of the winning horse romping home will be available.
Later, as the sun dips behind the mountain and the last race is run, some of the country’s best musicians and DJs will take to the stage to entertain the crowds till late.
Both Ladies and Gentlemen are required to dress in a manner appropriate to a smart occasion adhering to the dress code blue and white. Ladies are encouraged to wear hats, although this is not compulsory. Gentlemen are requested to dress in a suit or jacket. Casual wear such as t-shirts, jeans, shorts and sports attire are strictly forbidden.
Tickets will be available from Computicket from the 1st of October 2009 and include entry to Kenilworth Race Course, the Style Lounge Village and the concert.
