The Amy Biehl Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town whose programmes are designed to develop and empower youth in the townships as a mechanism to reduce the levels of crime and violence in these areas.
Their mission statement of “weaving a barrier against violence” is achieved by providing educational and cultural activities that offer students alternatives to crime, drugs, and sex.
At this year’s Township Jazz Festival you can enjoy performances by the Amy Biehl Youth Band, CODA, other Cape Town bands and a special appearance by the Milton Academy Jazz Band from Boston, U.S.A.
