A “Bizzare” encounter at Cape Town’s latest trance club
Here’s to good times
The skinny on a six-part South African mini-series shot in Cape Town
This locally made TV show tracks the experiences of two generations in Cape Town. The gritty, no holds barred narrative follows a group of recent high school graduates living in South Africa and it looks at the life of a 30-something who returns to Cape Town after ten years.
Here’s to good times examines themes of violence, crime, forgiveness and redemption which are particularly relevant in today’s society. Riaz Solker, one of the directors and producers, explained that the series is set in Cape Town and makes use of its unique sights and cultures, “many Capetonians who have seen the show really liked the way Cape Town is represented in the cinematography”. Many of the scenes were shot in the CBD, but also in Observatory, Lansdowne, Walmer Estate, Hanover Park, as well as the dunes in Atlantis.
“The crew was a small group of passionate filmmakers who wanted to push the boundaries of what could be achieved”. Many of the people that worked on the series are staff and graduates from CityVarsity Cape Town.
The mini-series should be hitting the small screen soon so keep an eye out for it and look out for places you know in the background.
