Easter egg hunts and events in Cape Town and surrounds

An Easter feast at The Mount Nelson Hotel
There’s no better backdrop for an Easter bunny than the pink lady’s legendary rolling lawn. While the kiddies take a crack at egg-painting and egg-hunting, parents can unwind poolside with afternoon tea, which includes sandwiches, scones and Easter-themed treats. Do keep in mind; you’ll need to BYOB – Bring Your Own Baskets.

Easter egg hunt at Noordhoek Farm Village
Another family-friendly favourite, the Noordhoek Farm Village has commandeered a warren of rabbits to accompany kiddies as they embark on Easter egg hunts, face-painting and balloon rabbit making. During the festivities mums and dads can enjoy an Easter breakfast or brunch at Café Roux or the Foodbarn Deli.

Easter Vortex: Steps to the Stars V:3
Get down and dirty over the Easter weekend with, well, a different sort of magic. Take a trip to Riviersonderend for four days and three nights of non-stop psytrance and psychedelic beats. Don’t leave home without your phosphorescents, and come prepared for the long jol. Hot showers have been promised, but why bother – there’s a mountain river on site. Read more about Easter Vortex.

Easter Muizenberg Moonlight Meander
The Muizenberg Moonlight Meander is an alternative that’s a little lighter on the hips and thighs than previously mentioned activities. Those keen for the lovely beachfront stroll should meet in front of Knead at Surfer’s Corner; Easter eggs will be on hand for the little ones, and those interested in an educational Easter can arrive early for a first aid and CPR demonstration. Breakfast buffet and Easter egg hunt at Nitida Wine Farm
Settle into Easter Sunday with eggs any way you want ‘em. Start with a breakfast buffet at this quaint Durbanville wine farm, and then once you’ve refuelled with something poached or fried, indulge in an Easter egg hunt in the vineyard’s nooks and crannies.

Warwick in Wonderland
Dive into the Warwick rabbit hole for a weekend of wild and wacky Easter entertainment. Bigger and better than ever before, this year’s wonderland includes live plays, face painting, jumping castles, egg hunts and more. Champagne and Oyster Festival at Bloemendal Wine Estate
Come ready to shuck and slurp, Bloemendal Wine Estate in Landgoed has promised 20,000 Easter oysters out of the sea. Expect live music, local bubbly and an assortment of wineries to join the foray; there is an entertainment area for kiddies for those looking for something a little more innocent.

V&A Waterfront Lindt Gold Bunny Maze
Lose yourself in a labyrinth laced with Lindt gold bunnies for an unconventional take on the Easter egg hunt. Indulgent? Definitely! Though, those worried about packing on the pounds can take solace in the fact that the Gods of the Green Thumb – Starke Ayres – have designed the magnificent maze, and there’s always mall-walking to be done after the fact.
