Become inspired, get connected and be part of the working community at the city centre’s newest co-working space
“All we want to achieve is a sense of community so that companies that work here can grow,” says Julien Verspieren, founder and CEO of the Mother City’s newest shared office space Work & Co. “It really is just all about the people.”
With the intent to create a stylish and upmarket as well as inspiring co-working space perfect for the Mother City’s working folk, Julien established Work & Co in March 2016 focusing on not only giving its exclusive members state-of-the-art services but also a space in which they can connect with one another and in turn help each other to achieve their goals and develop their businesses. Situated in Touchstone House, a chic new office block positioned on lower Bree Street, the CBD-based office space provides its members with all the much-needed features and comforts for the ideal work environment while at the same time aims to build a community of inspiring individuals.
Occupying the 11th and 14th floor of the 15-storey building, Work & Co offers a wide variety of private and shared office spaces as well as meeting rooms, not to mention spectacular panoramic views of the Mother City, the harbour and Table Mountain. In addition, both floors contain large common lounge and kitchen areas – complete with free tea and coffee – that are ideal for members to meet over a cuppa Joe and bounce ideas off one another.
“The majority of the companies we work with are small businesses, freelancers and entrepreneurs – mostly people who are used to working alone and although they like their independence they don’t necessarily want to be isolated”, explains Julien. “At Work & Co they can find all the right tools and facilities, professional fees, the vibe of a coffee shop where they can meet people all in a stylish and inspiring environment that is not just for the people but for their businesses too.”
Work & Co offers three different styles of office spaces in the form of the open spaced first-come-first-served Hot Desks, designated open spaced Shared Offices and secure and quiet Private Offices. Ultimately, Work & Co strives to provide workplaces perfect for everyone's work-enviornment taste.
The Bree Street office block also has three meeting rooms – all which are named after their magnificent views of either Table Mountain, the Harbour or of the CBD. The rooms are available to all Work & Co members as well as to outsiders who are looking for a workspace to run a meeting or do a presentation.
What’s more, all of the premium co-working venues facilities – from ultra-high-speed optic fibre internet and full IT support to a receptionist located on the 11th floor and biometrics security (Work & Co's facilities list goes on and on), are available to every Work & Co member regardless of the specific office-package chosen.
“This space goes against the notion of people being quite selfish with their knowledge and instead breaks that idea down to create an integrated knowledge system,” explains Jolize Pienaar, the community manager of Work & Co. In fact, the space uses state-of-the-art technology to break these boundaries. All Work & Co members are given an individual login to a portal that connects them with the entire Work & Co community through custom designed digital tools. Members are linked to specific software that allows them to interact and engage with folk in the Work & Co community meaning that anyone is able to instantly ask for advice from the built-in support and networking system.
And then there is the interior. Designed by top Cape Town-based international designer Andrea Graff, each floor pays great attention to detail featuring various custom-made artworks and prints across its walls, not to mention beautiful one-off furniture items and vibrant wallpapers. “We wanted people to feel comfortable, like they’re at home, we are blessed to have such beautiful views and we wanted the place to be as beautiful inside as it is outside,” says Julien.
Ultimately, Work & Co endeavors to create an all-encompassing work-induced environment where the only thing its open-minded and passionate members have to worry about is how they are going to change the world. As Jolize concludes, “Yes, we focus on the lifestyle and the facilities but the priority at the end of the day is that this is a space where things happen.”
NOTE: Work & Co has backed up their network with UPS – Uninterrupted Power Supply – so not even load shedding can derail Work & Co’s member’s productivity. Touchstone House also has eight levels of parking.
Tip: Work & Co offers tours of all their office spaces and facilities. To gain a better idea of what work area would suit you and your company best, Work & Co encourages guests to book a tour of their offices.
The Bill: Hot Desks depending on your package and how often you wish to use the space costs between R490 and R3990 whereas Shared Office spaces will ring in at R5250 per a month. Owing to the Private Office spaces different sizes and locations on the two floors it is best to contact Work & Co directly to book a tour of the facilities and to find out which office space would suit you and your business best.
Opening Hours: Private and Shared Offices: Daily: 24 hours | Hot Desks: Monday – Friday: 6am – 9pm
