Cocktails, sultry Cuban and elegance in Green Point and Mouille Point

Walk along the promenade singing 'Staying Alive' and you'll fit right in

Don't overlook the nightlife in Green Point and Mouille Point. Just because these areas are home to affluent suburbs, it doesn't mean that their nightlife doesn't accommodate all walks of life. Just because these areas may be small, it doesn’t mean they are not visited by thousands of local and international night owls. Why? Because a lighthouse, a promenade, a majestic soccer stadium and the Atlantic ocean is the ideal setting  for the kind of cocktail lounges, sultry Cuban eateries and elegant nightclubs that showcase the best of Cape Town's socialites. Definitely worth a look.

We at CapeTownMagazine.com took a stroll along Green Point's Main Road and Mouille Point's promenade, to seek out the nightlife gems that attract the crème of Mother City revellers.

Monday night:

Far from the clutches of contemporary, you find yourself at Green Point's Buena Vista Social Cafe. A lively chunk of authentic Cuban awaits: antique chairs, broken down walls and a delightful upstairs terrace. You dine on paella and sip on a Cuban Long Island, before taking to the floor with your salsa dancing instructor, Carlos (Buena Vista Social Cafe | 81 Main Road | Green Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)21 433 0611) .Read more about how Buena Vista breaks the contemporary mould.

Tuesday night:

It's been a long day at the office and you head to Italian eatery, Cafe Bravado, for a relaxing, after work drink with friends. You're watching sport on one of their six, large screens, whilst you tuck into their speciality, Milano Pizza and sip on a large glass of wine. 'Mama Mia', indeed. (Cafe Bravado | 1 Portswood Mall | Somerset Main Road | Green Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)21 433 1496).

Wednesday night:

It's time to hit the clubs for a mid-week party, so you visit Cape Town's new place to be seen, Casa Blanca. When we say hot, we mean smoking hot. Not only is the interior one of elegance and sophistication, but this venue has drawn a good looking crowd. A DJ spins tech house and sexy beats deep into the night (Casa Blanca | 12A-12B Portswood Road | Green Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)84 792 4092).

Thursday night:

When you enter Jade Champagne Bar and Lounge, you can't help but notice the decor. It's French flair, uber chic and grand arm chairs, yet boasts a staff and crowd that make you feel as though you're relaxing in your own living room. A DJ spins commercial music on Jade's busiest night, whilst you stand chatting on a glass fronted balcony, with magnificent views of Cape Town Stadium (Jade Champagne Bar and Lounge | 39 Main Road | Green Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)82 589 3490). Friday night:

You've finished work early, which is just in time to watch the sun set. You opt for a little urban glamour by the ocean, at Mouille Point’s Pepenero. You are sat in an intimate, private booth with your partner, listening to soft jazz and sipping on award-winning, wine and champagne. Upon noticing their seafood and cocktail specials you decide to stay for a while longer (Pepenero | No. 1 Two Oceans Beach | Bay Road | Mouille Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)21 439 9027).

Saturday night:

After a leisurely, Saturday stroll along the promenade, in Mouille Point, you settle on large wicker couches, on the sundowner deck at Wafu. Just upstairs from Wakame, Wafu marries picture-perfect, sunset views with Asian cuisine and classic cocktails. You are sat amongst the designer clad, social elite, adorned with oversized sunglasses (Wafu | 1st Floor | Corner of Beach Road and Surrey Place | Mouille Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)21 433 2377).

You join the who's who of Cape Town's social elite at Kenny Kunene's lavish club. Relaxing in the soft, white and plush Champagne Room, you sip on the finest Armand de Brignac and dance to commercial RnB (Cape Royal Hotel | 47 Main Road | Green Point | Cape Town | +27 (0)79 496 4239).
