The Dope Goods Market, for those who don’t already know, is one of the best collections of vintage finds, second-hand goods and original creative wares you’ll find anywhere in the city. On Saturday, 30 September 2017, Trenchtown in Observatory is hosting this event once again and avid bargain hunters won’t want to miss this.
This market runs a little differently to the rest of the markets in Cape Town. Instead of bringing together Cape Town’s artisan producers, this market focuses on second-hand collectors and gives younger Capetonians the opportunity to sell their goods to an excited gathering! They will sell books, clothes, jewellery, decor, accessories and (hopefully) some shoes. Second hand goods, or vintage, have come back into popularity over the last few years and you never know what treasures you’re going to unearth at the hippest market to hit Observatory this July.
This is a super opportunity for all young people looking to make a bit of extra cash! If you’re a creative kid, baker or maker extraordinaire with something cool to offer the crowds then book your stall and sell to your heart’s content. The whole idea is for budding entrepreneurs to be able to sell without the interference of the ‘man’ pocketing any hard-earned cash. It’s R150 to book a stall and any magical moola you make is yours to keep. On the flip side, if you’re looking to support the next generation of energetic entrepreneurs, be sure to show up on the day and buy lots of delightful things to invest in up-and-coming talented youngsters.
If you think you know what the people want, and that you can provide it, then why not grab yourself a stall? If you like to follow fashion trends (we all know how long their shelf-life is), then you probably have a wardrobe full of garments you won’t wear again until it comes back into fashion in like ten years. You can apply for a stall by sending an email to stiekuitproductions@gmail.com.
