Santa visits the Mother City to see what Joy from Africa’s all about
Champagne, bubbly, sparkling wine, Méthode Cap Classique—whatever you call it, you simply have to have it at swish and swanky Jade Champagne Bar & Lounge. This glamorous club exudes style, much like the drink itself. Positioned in the ever-evolving Cape Town neighbourhood of Green Point, it’s just the place to indulge in a chilled bottle tableside, while still enjoying a nightclub experience.
Need somewhere to wear those stilettos or that suave new blazer? Then this is your excuse to dress to impress and mingle with the well-heeled crowd, while indulging in the drink to match.
At Jade, there’s a wide range of sparkling wine on offer, from French Champagnes, like Moët & Chandon, to top tier South African Méthode Cap Classiques. Plus, the sophisticated bar stocks a selection of Western Cape wines, premium spirits and a host of classic cocktails.
Make your next birthday party, hen or indeed bachelor night a Champagne Saturday celebration. Even if you don’t have anything to celebrate, you can make a night on the town an occasion with a bottle of bubbles.
Jade is open from Thursday to Saturday nights, and is situated in an historic building that’s part of a swathe of national monuments on Somerset Road. Its Art Deco bones have been married to Eastern design elements, from the textured wallpaper with creeping floral patterns to the Indian door at the entrance. It has all the feel of an intimate jazz club, with undeniable French opulence. The lighting is soft and flattering throughout and casts a golden glow over proceedings. It’s just the place for a private party and caters well for large groups too. Though, the inherently romantic feel also makes for the perfect after-dinner date dancing spot (with loads of bubbly of course).
The dance floor shares space with plush armchairs and sofas: sink into luxury while enjoying a sparkling glass of bubbly, brought to you by a waiter (there’s no elbowing through thirsty throngs here). If you’d prefer, sit at the bar rather than lounge in ‘the living room’ - there are two to choose from - or socialise on the balcony at the head of the club with views of the shimmering city as a backdrop.
On Saturday nights, resident DJs play commercial, house, and even old school classics: the musical offering is as diverse as the crowd is cosmopolitan. Jade has no cover charge, but this means that the club have a strict door policy—no under 23s are allowed. Needless to say, if looking for an elegant night out in Cape Town, come and taste the stars at Jade Champagne and Lounge Bar this Saturday night.
Tip: Table reservations as well as guest list are recommended as Jade gets to capacity very quickly, call to make a booking. To keep up to date with special events at the swish Cape Town hotspot, be sure to check out Jade's Facebook page.
