The cutting-edge opera, Dead Man Walking, became an overnight success when it opened it the US and became the fastest selling opera production in recent history.
The Mayor’s Relief Fund was founded by the Council of Cape Town as a relief and charitable fund to deal with requests for grants, donations, and financial assistance. Over the years it has been utilized to fund funeral costs of children who have died as a result of a criminal act or violent crime.
The Fund also gives assistance for drug rehabilitation programmes, specialized medical care for children and various charities dedicated to the care of children and the aged.
