The Helderberg Wine Festival kicks off with a golf day for charity on Thursday and promises many other fun activities such as mountain biking, trail runs and fun walks.
The festival which carries on throughout the weekend, will take place at 24 participating wineries situated along the R44 between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.
Events include a classic car expo on Saturday morning, a popular music event on Saturday evening, a sunset jazz concert on the Sunday afternoon and new routes for the mountain bikers.
You can purchase your ticket at any wine farm.
Just to make your weekend even more exciting, the Bilton Wine Estate has even more merriment in stall for you.
The Bilton Wine Estate will be a hub of festivities with a hip and happening music festival featuring selected local artists that will perform hourly throughout the day, food stalls with traditional delicacies such as pancakes and Boerewors rolls as well as free wine tastings on selected Bilton wines.
Afterwards, bring your own picnic basket and blanket or help yourself from the food stalls and enjoy a leisurely sunset picnic outdoors between 17h00 – 19h00 on one of the marvellous picnic spots on the estate's lush green lawns.
In the evening, Cape Town's sexiest musicians, D7 A'Capella group, semi-finalists of “S.A. Got Talent”, will take centre stage. These seven multi-talented and sexy men take songs both old and new, classic or contemporary and make it their own with their unique flavour and harmony.
The show starts at 19h30 for 20h00.
A tranquil haven, Bilton Wine Estate with its sweeping views offers you the perfect setting for a laid-back sojourn in the winelands where you can revel in excellent wines, festive delicacies and ample entertainment.
One of the highlights during the festival is Bilton's popular and irresistible Wine and Chocolate tastings. Relish in the unique taste combinations of the estate's marvellous reds – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz – perfectly paired with three decadent Belgian chocolates specially made by a chocolatier to complement and accentuate the flavours of these wines.
The sublime Wine and Chocolate tastings will be taking place by the hour at R35 per person.
Throughout the entire weekend, the Bilton Wine Estate will also offer ample entertainment for the little ones including a special petting zoo where they can touch and play with various animals and enjoy pony rides.
The Bilton restaurant 'Wine & Dine @ Bilton Restaurant' will be open on Thursday, Friday and Sunday for breakfast and lunch offering you a mouth-watering selection of unpretentious yet flavoursome country cuisine.
In true country tradition, do not leave the estate without challenging the family to a game of Boules at Bilton's Boules Court. Never to play the game empty handed, Bilton's superb wines make for an excellent substitute to a glass of French pastis the traditional drink of the game.
