Sure Thing Fridays at The Dragon Room
Progressive house, electro and swing beatsat The Dragon Room
The Focus Contemporary has found a new home at 67 Loop Street, and what better way to celebrate than with an exhibition by Karin Miller entitled ‘I Wear My Mask For Warmth.’
Karin Miller was born in Pretoria in 1957. From an early age, she spent hours drawing, cutting and pasting images to create new impressions and new worlds.
To generate work of outstanding quality, Karin combines traditional artwork skills and photography with modern technology.
Creating a fusion of past and present, personal and public, Karin has developed a unique style which exudes a rich eclecticism, playfulness, quirky humour and a post-modern element of neo-baroque.
Karin Miller’s work speaks of a new South Africa, where the past is not forgotten, but revisited – she creates her very own vision of a new African renaissance.
Her new works are addressing the African contemporary politics and current affairs, as well as opening a visual discussion about sexuality and gender.
