From the moment you enter Pigalle you are assured of an extraordinary experience.

It rests high above the hustle and bustle of trendy Green Point, and its uber-chic plush interior is sure to please aficionados of the finer things in life.

No expense has been spared in converting an old ice-rink into a glamorous 300-seater restaurant, and the imposing entrance says its all – with huge canvases of women sweeping across the walls, the sight of shimmering chandeliers and the attractive glassed-in bar offering a fitting prelude to the expansive dining room.

A menu of culinary delights focuses on seafood and elegant Portuguese food, offering up the freshest piscine creatures, prime beef cuts and other fine dining fare. And while the slant is on elegance, there’s also a focus on being straightforward and unfussy, while always ensuring ultimate freshness and quality.

To set the mood for both New Year’s Eve and Tweede Nuwe Jaar, the band will start with a soft background dinner style repertoire to welcome and entertain you, and build up to a late-night party frenzy, enticing patrons to dance the night away!

Celebrations commence on arrival, where guests will receive a glass of champagne at their table. The pre-dinner drink’s bar area will be closed until 10pm – after which guests are welcome to utilise the bar facility.

New Year’s menu at Pigalle Restaurant in Cape Town:

Amuse Bouche: Parsley soup, set with prawn tortellini and truffle foam

Starter: Seared tuna with Basque-style stew of peppers, Parmesan tuille, sun dried tomato and pesto aioli and Passion Fruit Sorbet with a basil and fromage blanc.

Mains: Freshly grilled Kingklip with olive crust, basil flavoured mash with confit of tomato and basil. Salad of shaved asparagus with chive cream OR Mushroom Dusted Beef Fillet with ravioli of goat’s cheese, watercress cream and sweet potato fondant with truffle foie gras jus OR Shellfish platter – a combination of baby lobster, prawns and langoustines grilled in lemon butter & lightly brushed with garlic marinade.

Dessert: Iced nougat and dark chocolate cone with raspberry jelly and exotic fruit with orange blossom and bitter mint OR Chambord Crème Brûlée, served with nut biscotti.
