Sure Thing Fridays at The Dragon Room
Progressive house, electro and swing beatsat The Dragon Room
It’s the dream of every golfer’s inner anarchist: laugh off the course, and instead head into the suburbs to gleefully launch golf balls through the streets with carefree abandon, cars and buildings of no concern.
Usually, that would be good for a quick spell of extremely indulgent pleasure, followed by a high-speed escape from locals nursing broken windows and shattered windscreens.
Which is exactly why Street Golf is so appealing – you can swing away with manic intent, but doing any real damage is virtually impossible?
So how does it work? Eighteen holes meander through quiet, shady streets beneath Table Mountain, each with a chalked-in tee box, and a roped-off green, marked by a broomstick as pin. Once you get over the rope (and stay inside it), the hole is complete – but it’s not as easy as it looks.
Golf Punk now owns the rights to host Urban Golf around the country; they are planning the next street golf expedition in Tamboerskloof Cape Town on 17 October 2009.
The concept is basically taking an old club, strap a squash ball up with tape, roam around the streets of Cape Town with a couple of friends and a couple of beers, and have some fun!
Space is limited to 80 players only – if you would like to play please let me know so we can send you an invoice and secure your space.
Price includes: 18 Holes, drinks, lunch and the most fun you've ever had.
Come along and make the streets of Cape Town your playground in a way you never would…
17 October promises to be a fabulous day out. Plus it’s all in the name of charity – Golf Punk looks forward to seeing you on the first.
