This Cape Town poetry festival features acclaimed poets from Jamaica, the USA and South Africa
The Urban Voices Poetry Festival is happening on 19 October at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch, with a local and international line-up including Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze and reggae poet Mutabaruka.
Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze's work reveals a generous and uncompromising vision, and explores a wide range of personal, social and political issues with sublimely-tuned lyrical sensibility.
As an actress, dancer, choreographer and theatrical director, Jean brings all her artistic experience to bear on her work as a poet. She has a striking stage presence, generating all the power and excitement of full-blown theatrical performance.
Reggae poet Mutabaruka is no stranger to South Africa and is regarded as one of the country’s leading reggae poets.
