Saturday Psyde Show ft. Bizzare Contact
A “Bizzare” encounter at Cape Town’s latest trance club
On the last Wednesday of every month a variety of poets, comedians, beatbox masters, hip-hoppers, songbirds, musicians and sometimes even dancers take their place on the Versus stage at Zula Bar.
Cape Town’s most eclectic spoken word, live music and soul-hop session started in 2004 with an audience of about 20. Five years later, the monthly event sees some 200 people attending.
The night has become a solid event on the Zula Bar calendar, with its own underground following in Cape Town.
Each event features a poet/spoken word artist, a live band and an increasingly popular open mic session.
The latter often enjoy spontaneous collaborations and it is not unusual to see a poet jamming with a guitarist who’s backed by a human beat-machine.
This October it is breast cancer awareness month and to honour this, Verses is hosting the special Verses vs. Cancer charity session.
For this special session Verses has invited some of the best artists to help raise funds and awareness including: Chad Saaiman, Claire Phillips, JP & The All Elements Band, Blaq Pearl, Perspectif, Dianne Ferrus, Khadija Heeger and Shimmy Isaacs.
So come offer your support and enjoy the sounds!
