Vodacom Funny Festival

This year the Vodacom Funny Festival now carries the insignia of the Cape of Great Events

The Vodacom Funny Festival, Cape Town’s premier comedy festival, has been awarded Official Event status by Cape Town’s tourism authorities and can now carry the insignia of the Cape of Great Events.

It is the only comedy project
in the city to have been awarded the accolade.

The official tourism destination-marketing organisation for Cape Town and the Western Cape, Cape Town Routes Unlimited (CTRU), recently relaunched its Cape of Great Events stamp of approval for events.

The stamp of approval is a win-win concept for both the event and the host destination as it offers more credibility for the event and heightened recognition for the destination.

The selection process considers several criteria, including addressing the issues of seasonality, regional spread and transformation.

Since inception, the Vodacom Funny Festival has run to full houses at the Baxter Theatre. This year, the festival runs from 15 June to 19 July and boasts a blend of local and international acts.

Marc Lottering hosts the show, which showcases local comedians Tumi Morake, Trevor Noah and Nik Rabinowitz and international acts including Japanese physical comedy duo Gamarjobat, US magician John Lenahan and UK musical duo The Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue.

Vodacom Funny Festival:

Date: 15 June – 19 July
Venue: Baxter Theatre
Location: Main Road | Rondebosch

Tickets can be bought through Computicket.
