Nestled between spectacular wine estates and towering mountains, the country’s oldest Horse and Wildflower show has returned to show off the finest stallions and floral exhibitions that Tulbagh has to offer. From Wednesday, 28 September to Saturday, 1 October 2016 take a trip to the valley and see what the agricultural expo has in store for you this year.
From a distance, the valley looks like a perfect postcard. September will see the town’s plant life in full bloom for the spring season – proteas grow wild in Tulbagh and there are plenty of farms packed with some of the finest fruit grown in the Cape. With expansive wine estates that have serene lakes sprinkled in between them, surrounded by the Winterhoek, Obiqua and Witzenberg mountains, it’s hard to believe that anyone would ever want to leave Tulbagh.
This is the 143rd time Tulbagh is hosting the Horse and Wildflower Show, making it the longest running agricultural exhibition in the country. The horse championships will include events such as the Welsh Pony Championships, WP Saddle Horse Regional Championships and the Friesian Regional Championships.
Visitors who seek refreshments can visit the wine garden, restaurant or bars at the venue. The fair caters for the whole family so there will be a fun park for the kids to visit along with the Wildflower Exhibition, pigeon and poultry competitions and various musical acts for everyone to enjoy.

ENTRY TO THE 2016 TULBAGH HORSE AND WILDFLOWER SHOW
Admission to the showground is FREE but be sure to bring some cash along for food and shopping.
