Leading Women of Africa launches Africa Village by Women 2010, the first of an annual cultural display representing Africa as a whole.
This 32 day event takes place during the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup and opens on the 5th June 2010 at Ratanga Junction.
Africa Village is the only cultural destination representing the African Continent that promises to showcase African women’s inventions and innovations during FIFA World Cup season.
This spectacular and exclusive village will ensure that you go back with wealth of knowledge about
Africa, have a taste of African Cuisine, feel the vibe of African drums, witness the sensation of
African beauty and also purchase unique souvenirs from Africa.
The Africa Village kicks off with Gala Dinner at Ratanga Junction -
Leading Women of Africa will formally open Africa Village by Women 2010 with a prestige Opening Gala event hosted on the 5th of June 2010, in its quest to introduce the first of an annual cultural showcase that represents the African continent.
"The objective of launching Africa Village by Women 2010, is to highlight the important role that women entrepreneurs have to play in the socio-economic space. We aim to assist government with sustainability in Africa and challenge government and corporate organisations to participate and ask them to sponsor leading women entrepreneurs. Make it possible for our African women to seize the opportunities by enabling them to actively participate in the village", says Madelein Mkunu, president and founder of Leading Women of Africa - the first ever Pan-African organisation dedicated to the economic empowerment of women through enterprise business development.

The event includes an EXPO and a number of proceedings, ranging from dinners, executive breakfasts and corporate events; celebrating the rich and diverse entrepreneurial skills of women, including cultural skills with music concerts, the arts and fashion shows.
