Mark Shields at Everard Read Gallery
Never and Always
Cape Town’s Everard Read is delighted to present an exhibition of new works by Northern Irish artist Mark Shields at their gallery in the V & A Waterfront from 19 Nov to 2 Dec 2010.
Shields´s acrylic & gesso works - though reduced in palette and rough in form - demonstrate simplicity and grandeur, the obscure and the hidden. Shields has fashioned a series of roughly-hewn monuments to memorialise simple human illuminations, to connect us to the primitive archetype which still touches us deeply today.
Gallery Times: Monday – Friday 09:00 – 18:00 | Saturdays 09:00 – 13:00 | Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays except by appointment.
