Get cozy this winter with lavish themed dinners and fine wines at The Goatshed Restaurant at Fairview Wine Estate. The rustic restaurant will be bringing back its much-loved food and wine pairing evenings for the next four months, starting on Friday, 10 June at 7pm. The Goatshed will host eight epicurean four-course dinners, each with a different theme.
The first dinner will follow an Italian menu and theme, but in the coming months you can expect anything from Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine to Moroccan and cheesy feasts to feature on the comprehensive menus. The quaint restaurant is a great setting for these wintery feasts as the casual ambiance will make your dining experience comfortable and homely. The restaurant used to be an old wine cellar on the estate, but is now a rustic yet hospitable venue.
There will be two Italian-themed dinners with different menus, the first of which will feature a roast sirloin and mushroom compote, along with an array of antipasti dishes, and an orange and poppy seed cake. Expect a smorgasbord of flavourful delicacies on the other Italian night, including tender braised veal shoulder with a mushroom risotto and parma ham, and a classic tiramisu for dessert.
The Spanish-themed evening will feature a range of delicious tapas, roasted linefish, beef brisket, and lemon and olive oil cake, while the Shank & Shiraz dinners will delight you with lamb, pork, beef, chicken, duck and springbok shanks along with milk tart and sticky toffee pudding. The Moroccan Feast will include lamb shoulder with an apricot and beef kefta, as well as a selection of traditional starters and a vanilla and almond cake with cinnamon custard to end it all off. Finally, the Chef’s Journey evening follows a surprise theme with the entire menu being kept a secret until you arrive.
