Saturday Psyde Show ft. Bizzare Contact
A “Bizzare” encounter at Cape Town’s latest trance club
The Barleycorn was born in late 1975 when US citizen Bob Denton and a group of musician friends began meeting regularly to jam and encouraged others to join them and play.
In 1977 this casual arrangement was formalized with a committee and a constitution as the Barleycorn Folk Club, which name was changed in 1984 to 'Music Club' - to reflect that what was being performed was not confined to 'folk' music!
The biggest event in the Barleycorn calendar is our annual Festival, held almost every year since 1980, when the cream of the acts who have performed at the Club are showcased.
This year’s brilliant local acts are Boulevard Blues, Louise Day, Wayne Pauli, Brothers Streep, Reini Adelbert, Dave Ledbetter, Natasha Meister, K Ray & The Bird, Jasper Dick, The Hotties and Blacksmith.
Drinks and food (including vegetarian) are available or bring your own picnic, not forgetting the sunblock, umbrella, blanket, pillow, friends and family, etc.
Costs are R60p/p for Adults, R50p/p for Members, R30p/p for Scholars and free for anyone under 12.
