Another reason to celebrate Heritage Day this September

Simon's Town welcomes the spring and invites all our friends, residents and neighbours to celebrate with them over Heritage Weekend.

There is something for everyone to enjoy: diverse music in venues all over town, navy bands and choirs, Tango on the Square, art, craft, creativity, history galore and great food from sushi to boerewors rolls – all in one of South Africa’s most beautiful little towns!

See whales from the beach, play in the sand, hunt treasure in the Glencairn wetlands, and visit the penguins.

Arrive by Steam Train to a carnival welcome; delve into the history of their unique naval town and explore its many museums and historical buildings. Participate in ceremonies that commemorate the past; share the excitement of the schools soccer final and the Lipton Cup-winning False Bay Yacht Club regatta; breathe in the fresh fynbos air in the show gardens, take a guided walk around historic Glencairn or up to the Waterfall in Simon’s Town.

The Wellness Expo on Saturday hosts a range of health-related practitioners for consultation, demonstration and information.

Whether you are two or ninety two, there is something to celebrate in Glencairn and Simon’s Town over the Heritage Weekend.

There is so much to be proud of when it comes to the heritage of South Africa, so use this day to celebrate our country by doing any of these great events happening on Heritage Day this September.

Of course you must know that Heritage Day is also fondly known as National Braai Day, so get to your local butcher, meet Jan Braai and get ready for a day of braai vleis and beer!
