Cape Philharmonic Orchestra presents four classical music concerts as part of their Winter Symphony Season.

29 July

Award-winning violist Natasha Korsakova performs Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole at the first concert of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Season. The highly rated German conductor Martin Wettges is on the podium and the programme also includes Wagner’s Flying Dutchman Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5

12 August

The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Season continues with the young clarinet duo Daniel and Alexander Gurfinkel, who will be performing Bruch’s Concerto for Two Clarinets in E minor.  The CPO is conducted by its Principal Guest Conductor Owain Arwel Hughes.

19 August

South African-born Conrad van Alphen conducts the third concert of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Season. The programme consists of Stravinsky’s Song of The Nightingale, Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain, Pijper’s Piano Concerto and Stravinsky’s The Firebird.

26 August

The soloist for the last concert of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Season is the young South African pianist Ben Schoeman. He will be performing – amongst others - Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto, Johann Wagenaar’s Overture The Taming of the Shrew and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9. The conductor will once again be Conrad van Alphen.
