Led by a dynamic group of fellow students, over seventy of Cape Town’s children will be taking part in the production “Legends” at The Artscape Theatre, in order to raise funds for the Western Cape Street Children’s Forum.
The production will showcase songs by musical legends such as Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, which are performed and choreographed by the children themselves. In an effort to raise awareness of the ‘Homeless Children’ issue, the production takes us on a journey through the mind of an adolescent who feels that life on the streets would be preferable to being in a home environment, where abuse and neglect are the order of the day.
In holding faith in themselves and each other, the children remind us all - young and old - that our destinies are truly in our own hands. Proving that we are never too old to learn, these youngsters teach us that true freedom comes from learning to stand up for ourselves and each other, not by running away from home.
In order to ensure that all proceeds raised from ticket and programme sales go to the Western Cape Street Childrens Forum, the children need to raise funds to cover the costs of equipment hire, costumes, props and printing and also to pay for rehearsal venues.
Please help these children to realize their dream of making a difference.
This event is in line with the Central City Improvement District’s ‘Give Responsibly’ Campaign, which encourages us not to give money to beggars on the streets.
Tickets are available through Computicket
