From Thursday, 28 April to Saturday, 7 May 2016, a team of 12 members from One Chance At Life (OCAL) will run from Cape Town to Pretoria in a bid to raise awareness around the needs of differently-abled people, and to raise funds for two individuals who have suffered spinal cord injuries.
You will be able to join the team members, comprising nine able-bodied runners, two hand cyclists and one amputee, for a short 10-km run from 10 Loop Street to the V&A Waterfront. From there the team will depart to Pretoria.
The money received through the event and donations will provide the two injured people with the necessary medical resources and rehabilitation facilities. “The two individuals we’re assisting in this first annual initiative will also be taken on board as the core team members of our 2017 journey. By doing this we will not only be facilitating their recovery but also show them that they can still have a life filled with adventure and purpose even in their now differently-abled bodies,” says OCAL Global founder Nicolene Mostert.
Don your running shoes and come and join the heroic team for a well-deserved send-off as they embark on their 10-day journey through four provinces. The 10-km run will start at 7am sharp.
