The Wizard of Oz is a classic tale of friendship and adventure, it features many well-loved characters and follows the peculiar journey of a girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto. This proudly local production will open at The Playhouse Theatre in Somerset West on Wednesday, 15 June 2016 and will run until Saturday, 2 July 2016.
Dorothy is just a normal girl from Kansas, when one day a tornado picks up her house, and carries it off (with her and Toto inside it) to the wonderful land of Oz. Filled with witches both good and bad, flying monkeys, munchkin people and more, Oz seems to be a very confusing place to Dorothy. All she and her canine pet want to do is get home, but little does she know that the Wicked Witch of the West isn't so happy with Dorothy. After all, Dorothy’s house did land on her sister the Wicked Witch of the East.
Dorothy embarks on an adventure to reach the illusive Wizard of Oz, in the hopes that he will send her home to her beloved Aunty Em, and along the way meets a loveable bunch of characters who also need to see the Wizard.
It isn’t often that you meet a talking lion, scarecrow and tin-man, but further than that, the lion has no courage, the scarecrow has no brain, and the tin-man has no heart. How ever is Dorothy going to get this odd bunch all the way along the yellow brick road to the Wizards castle? You will just have to go and watch to find out!
This production is perfect for kids of all ages and adults too!
