There are so many ways to celebrate the women in our lives this year, whether that’s your mom, aunt, sister, wife, bestie, you… There’s a night of burlesque and swing dancing, padel tournament, free women in STEM talk, five-course seafood dinner at a luxe hotel, and more.
Palm House Boutique Hotel and Spa is hosting a five-course dinner with Carmen Steven Wines (the first black woman to study the art of winemaking back in 1995) and ABALOBI, who will showcase the documentary Fish With A Story. Highly-respected chef Gregory Henderson will prepare sustainably-caught seafood, paired with wine, at the hotel’s de Tafel Restaurant.

We’re sure you’ve hopped on the padel craze by now. And if you haven’t, this is a great opportunity to. Socially Gathering, a networking platform with a mission to build a supportive community of women, is hosting a padel tournament at Africa Padel at the V&A. If you’re looking for something free and educational, you can join Celebrating Women In Space Science and Astronomy. There will be engaging talks and activities by women in astronomy and space science, interesting science shows and exhibitions, tabletop telescope building, and more.

Cannibisters, Cape Town’s first legal cannabis lounge, is giving away free memberships to any woman who signs up on Women’s Day. There’ll also be specials (like a Living Soil Joint and marshmallow hot chocolate or fresh red juice for R150) and live music from 4pm to 10pm. Please note that members need to be 21 years or older.

Join the “Sea of Pink” with the legendary Totalsports Women’s Race. Nearly 27 000 runners and walkers will unite in solidarity to honour National Women's Month. The 5km race is for ages nine and up; the 10km is open to ages 14 and up. Bring your running shoes and join SA’s largest national Women’s Day Celebration.
