Wine Tasting at De Grendel

The taste experience…

The cellar’s open plan tasting room spills onto the veranda, where you can experience De Grendel wines under the guidance their expert in-house tasting presenters and against the picture-perfect backdrop of Table Mountain.

Rubaiyat 2006 - This Bordeaux style of wine has a deep purple color with red hints on the appearance of the wine.

MCC Brut 2008 - Fresh apple flavours and sweet tropical fruit backed by some biscuit richness.

Pinot Noir 2008 - The Pinot Noir exudes red cherries, blackberries and roasted nuts, with a velvet finish on the palate.

Winifred 2009 - This wine was blended to be a true food complimentary wine: rich in flavor and texture, an every occasion wine.

Koetshuis 2010 - Supported by a firm acidity it is a full bodied white wine with a strong and long finish.

Shiraz 2007 - This 2007 Shiraz shows coriander, lavender and white pepper, as well as some floral notes on the nose.

Merlot 2007 - A full bodied wine filled with a combination of different berries on the nose.

Pinot Gris 2010 - The wine has a light green hue with apple and pear flavours on the nose.

Sauvignon Blanc 2010 - This wine is an explosion of tropical fruit with pronounced flavours of passion fruit, white peaches and ripe figs.

Rose 2010 - The wine has a crisp, dry finish with a very well-structured natural acidity.

Viognier 2011 - This wine has delightful apricot, dried peach and pineapple flavours that follow through on the palate. The barrel fermented portion adds a buttery quality to the balanced mouth feel that finishes with a crisp dry acidity.

The Tasting Room is open 7 days a week  (closed on Christmas).

Price – R50 for the whole selection (11 wines) and R20 for 3 wines.

Times: Monday – Friday @ 09:00 – 17:00 | Sat – Sun & Public Holidays @ 10:00 – 16:00
