Belly dancing is one of the most popular dance styles in the world. With its rich history and mysterious moves it’s apparent why this dance appeals to many. Celebrate World Belly Dance Day on Saturday, 13 May 2017 at Gardens Commercial High School and be mesmerized by the professionals.
On the day, there will be a multitude of awesome activities to either take part in or watch. These include performances by dance studios from all over SA, a belly dance themed fashion show, food and trinket stalls at the market, and finally, a mass-group drum solo session and demonstration.
With four performance slots spaced out over four hours, you can arrive at any time and still see some amazing talent. This event boasts performances from 38 different studios and individuals, so you can bet every style of belly dance will be represented!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to Rape Crisis. Sexual violence is a massive problem in South Africa, and it is the responsibility of all residents to realise the importance of combatting the epidemic. The organisers are hoping to improve on the funds raised in 2016, which was R20 000 by the way, so do your bit and get donating!
TICKETS TO THE 2017 WORLD BELLY DANCE DAY CELEBRATION IN GARDENS
Tickets are available at the entrance to the event on Saturday, 13 May 2017. Children under 12 pay R40p/p, and for adults the tickets cost R80p/p. The event starts 10am and ends at 5pm, so you’ve got a full day of belly dancing fun!
