On Sunday, 15 October 2017, the Olympia Cafe and Deli in Kalk Bay are hosting some of the city’s best gin distilleries for a Gindig! We love gin and the Gindig event sounds like the perfect opportunity to get to know all of the lovely variations of gin made in and around the Mother City.
The city is home to a number of micro-distilleries, who are responsible for producing the craft spirit we have come to know and love (a lot!). The creations of these gin distilleries have become the tonic of choice for many Cape Town bars and restaurants.
The Gindig will see distilleries serve their best produce and whip up delicious gin creations. What’s more, there will be plenty of opportunity to chat to the various producers about their gin craft. It’s great way to learn more about gin, as we’re sure the makers will be sharing lots of interesting insights. So there will be tutoring and talking, but of course we are most interested in the tasting! Sample the gin neat or sip it in a creative cocktail.
On arrival, guests will be be handed a gin cocktail and welcomed to the gin paradise that awaits. Representatives from the distilleries will be there with tasters and unique cocktails that they have cooked up especially for the event. So far, Wilderer Gin and Hope on Hopkins have confirmed their attendance and we are waiting on more announcements.
If you’re interested in gin and you want to visit more local distilleries; check out our gin distillery overview which tells you exactly where they are and what delicious gin they are responsible for. The Cape Town company Kiff Kombi Tours have just debuted a new tour, the Gin Jol. Any true gin lover wouldn’t miss this opportunity!
