"I'm a place of distraction where everything goes
So forget what you've seen and all that you know
It's far from your usual but come dip your toes
Because once you arrive you won't want to go"
- The Midnight Circus
Come one, come all to the tent of wonders, the home of magic, the seat of mystery and enjoy all the attractions at the Midnight Circus. On Saturday, 22 April 2017, the South African National Circus is hosting a weird and wonderful nighttime circus which will entice, excite, surprise and delight.
The circus will feature talented performers doing all kinds of crazy and amazing tricks, but just what makes this event special? Well, you may have been to the circus before, but have you ever been to a circus performance that has fused with a concert? The organisers have secured international artists to blow the figurative roof off the place in one epic night of wonderful artistry (both theatrical and musical).
LINE-UP AT THE 2017 MIDNIGHT CIRCUS FESTIVAL IN OBSERVATORY
The Western Cape is experiencing a bit of trouble at the moment; the dam levels are down to 20% at last reading and in the spirit of conservation, the Midnight Circus has decided to go totally meat free. Creating a 150g hamburger takes 2500 litres of water and that is not water we can spare at the moment. The event has also gone 100% waste free, 100% meat free and (as usual) the circus will be 100% animal free. Relax into the idea that this circus is totally guilt free, and you can enjoy it with the special people in your life.
The artists at the Midnight Circus will wow your socks off with trapeze acts, cloud swings, limbo fire acts, contortionists, human pyramids, pole acts, daring high wires and themed stunts. If you’ve been to the circus before, then prepare yourself for a next level Midnight Circus experience. These talented artists will perform to the music of sensational DJs, some of which have travelled all the way from Germany!
If after the circus you haven’t had enough, there is a super awesome after party at ERA on Loop Street. The party will feature two stages (of sorts), and the likes of Julz Sanchez, DeeTo Sessions and Dark Light. The Main Floor will host PJ Eales, Bruni Morphet and Rob Sloan Music. Entrance will cost only R70p/p (for those that attended the Midnight Circus) and R100p/p for everyone else. Don’t miss the opportunity to get funky once the curtains have closed on the best circus experience of your life!
