The first annual Cape Town Carnival brings you a proudly Capetonian CD and fantastic wine collection
The Cape Town Carnival is proud to announce the launch of its 2010 theme song, “Rhythm, Roots & Boots”. This brand new song, together with 5 tracks based on the various chapters telling the story of Cape Town, were created by a team of multi-cultural and multi-lingual singers and songwriters - led by Gabi Le Roux and Clive Ridgway.
Monique Hellenberg, Lu Chase, Blaq Pearl and Given Phike were among the singers who brought to life the soon-to-be-favourite “The Sea”, “Postcards from Cape Town”, “The Streets of Cape Town”, “Puzzle Pieces” and “Children of The Winds of Change”
Established, respected artists collaborated with young, up-and-coming talent in an unprecedented creative process based on volunteerism. The songs, which are an attempt to capture the essence of the Mother City and its creative spirit, will be used together with the visual elements of the Carnival to illustrate our goal of social cohesion as well as to achieve a platform to expose Cape Town’s creative talent, in all its forms.
Get your 11 February 2010 edition of YOU, Huisgenoot and Drum to get the official Cape Town Carnival CD free. Available at various retail outlets throughout the Cape Peninsula from as early as 5 February 2010.
Special Range of Carnival Wine from Perdeberg
To join in the festive spirit, Perdeberg Winery is releasing a special edition charity wine range for the Cape Town Carnival. This wine range will consist of a Chenin Blanc/Sauvignon Blanc, a Shiraz/Pinotage/Viogner and a Sparkling Rosé.
Neil Pendock, judged most trusted wine palate in 2007 by South African wine consumers, was kind enough to give of his time and considerable experience of the SA wine industry to help create the Perdeberg/Cape Town Carnival Wines - and even penned tasting notes, while at it!
With this special range of charity wines, Perdeberg has decided to give back a little more. For every bottle purchased, R5 will be donated directly to charity. So, by celebrating together at the Cape Town Carnival Perdeberg will also be giving something back to the communities in need.
