Dinner & movie at 12 Apostles

Dine at the Azure Restaurant and watch a movie in the private cinema for R315

This is an excellent surprise for your friend or partner. Have a life-is-good-drive on Victoria Road to the 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa and enjoy a fine dining meal, followed by a movie (from old time classics to the latest releases) in the plush 16 seater private cinema.

Starters

You have the choice of four starters: a fresh vegetable salad, asparagus and goat’s cheese tart, chicken noodle soup or black mussels. I go for the black mussels: slow simmered farm raised black West Coast mussels in a blonde lemon garlic sauce served with fresh olive bread but I also have a few bites of the fresh vegetable salad, a mixed baby leaf salad loaded with a mixture of selected raw vegetables tossed in wasabi vinaigrette and topped with a palm of avocado.

Main courses

A choice of one of the five main courses is not easy. On offer is an Asian vegetable stir-fry, catch of the day, Cape Malay chicken curry, oven roasted duck and Chalmar beef fillet. Since I haven’t had oven roasted duck in a good while, that’s what I go for. Expect half a free range duck on wilted bok choy with a golden brown bacon, thyme and leek potato rosti and pear jus. But also, I have a few bites of my colleague’s catch of the day wrapped with a pancetta ribbon, on a warm Niçoise salad, with caper and anchovy cream – also a choice to consider.

Desserts

To be honest, having had the in house baked bread with pâté for pre-starters, a dessert is not needed, but come on, you’re here to indulge. I had many bites of the rooibos crème brûlèe on a thin brownie served with crème anglaise as well as a rooibos apricot sorbet (definitely a winner). This is amazing. Since we’re all girls, I also stick my fork into a companion’s cheesecake, and the gooseberry parfait and the white chocolate tart...

The dinner is a feast; the movie (we watched 'Bucket List') turns into a whole candy-night with popcorn, ice cream, hot chocolate, milkshakes and candy. You can’t do anything else than over-indulge, but this is indeed a special occasion.
