Platters that Scream Delicious

“Expect the best, give the best” with fantastic platter options for any Cape Town occasion

There is not a single occasion that doesn’t deserve a platter or two or three, everyone needs to eat… right?

Yet my lack of culinary skills means that my kind of platter would consist of boxed, (frozen to be heated at 120° for 10min) cocktail sausage rolls, sprinkles of shaved lettuce - that I happen to find in my fridge - for garnish and maybe, just maybe I’ll throw in some quartered tomatoes for a bit of flair.

Would you buy my platter? Thought not.

Then think of these options…

- Seafood Platter with prawns, mussels and crabsticks
- Chicken kebabs platter with seeded chicken
- Cold meats platter with a generous portion of cheese to boot
- Luxury platter with cashew nuts, chocolate coated almonds, dried fruit, whispers and sweets
- Salad platter for our meat free friends, with lettuce, cucumber, pineapple and mushrooms

Now I have your attention don’t I?

Platters don’t have to be as daunting as you think with a little help from the platter fairy that goes by name of Jeanine Solomons.

I’m convinced that this vivacious lady, who is also a mom to three children and hails from the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, can do platters blindfolded. Jeanine has been making platters for years for her family and friends’ birthday parties, Christmas functions – the works! In 2006 she decided that this is something she is passionate about, went into platter making full time and has never looked back.

I was planning my daughter’s 1st birthday party and I knew that the moms and dads needed to be fed but platters are like Mandarin to me – so what to do? With a tight budget I was getting nervous as platters are normally quite pricey and I was little overwhelmed that I would have to come up with a plan myself - and fast.

I was referred to Jeanine by a friend who has known her for 12 years and counting – knowing that, an immediate sense of trust was established.

Jeanine gave me a quote on six mouth-watering platters, when she gave me the price I had to ask her to repeat what she had just said because I was pretty sure I had misheard her - but I hadn’t. What a price for all that! What a huge weight off my shoulders.

The day of the party…

The platters arrived and I was completely blown away at the sheer perfection of them – they looked too perfect to eat. Everybody at the party was so impressed with the platters, from seafood to chocolate balls – you name it, it was there. The biggest hit was the Philadelphia cheese covered in sweet chili sauce!

You look once, the platters are there, you look twice, they are gone – everything was eaten! Even the garnish, now if that doesn’t scream delicious then nothing does!

For your perfect platter, you should look no further than Jeanine Solomons – she will make you a platter that looks and tastes like it came from a 5-star deli!
