SA Cocktail Week |
This is not a drill. The announcement of SA Cocktail Week is music to our ears, and we are here to bring you all you need to know about Cape Town’s new ‘it’ festival. It’s no secret that our lovely city enjoys a good drink, but what if we told you that for ten days only, there is a way to experience limited-edition signature cocktails at a cluster of Cape Town’s most well-known and loved bars? We’ll wait while you find the words…
From Friday, 28 October to Sunday, 6 November 2016, SA Cocktail Week will be changing the way you spend your evenings (or even lunches, we don’t judge). There will be a multitude of events to attend and new drinks to try, so don’t waste time when you know you’re going to buy tickets anyway, and just head over to Sacocktailweek.co.za right now to get your all-access pass to being a tourist in your own city.
HOW DOES SA COCKTAIL WEEK WORK?
Good question, fellow drink discoverer. SA Cocktail Week is a totally unique event that will send you to brand new places to try brand new concoctions. SA Cocktail Week is designed around a very special wrist band. This wrist band gets you in to all associated events and offers you access to each of the participating venues' limited-edition signature cocktails.
The key concept in all of this excitement is that if you buy a ticket to SA Cocktail Week, you will have access to these specially developed, super delicious cocktails for ten whole days! Those who don’t buy themselves a ticket into cocktail heaven won’t be allowed to taste or order the exclusive creations. Shame.
You will also have access to the exclusive Cocktail Week events, all of which are listed on their website, that are not open to the general public. You’ll be sipping on a World Class Premium Spirit Portfolio creation at one of the most exclusive events around, trying to decide which cocktail to try next, while the people without tickets are crying at home. Not really, but they certainly won’t be having more fun than you. Oh, did we mention that Wilderer Gin, the Cape Town Gin Company and Woodstock Gin are involved? Cape Town adores gin, and it doesn’t get much better than this; they’re lekker and local, and we love them! Even if gin isn't your vibe, Jim Beam, Mokai and Courvoisier have also confirmed their attendance.
BARS AND RESTAURANTS PARTICIPATING IN THE 2016 EDITION OF SA COCKTAIL WEEK
These bars are based all over the city, so they are perfect for an after work drink, a lunch time tipple, an extravagant night with the significant other, or (even better) a good catch up with your friends.
More venues are coming your way Cape Town, just keep your eyes open and firmly set on the SA Cocktail Week website!
So, to sum up; each of these venues will design a signature cocktail especially for SA Cocktail Week, you will be able to order and enjoy the marvellous creations of these drink-designing dynamos.
EVENTS HAPPENING DURING THE VERY FIRST SA COCKTAIL WEEK IN CAPE TOWN
Just as there is a lot of drinking to be done, there are also a lot of events to attend. Mark the 10 days between Friday, 28 October and Sunday, 6 November down in your diary as ‘busy’, because you’re not going to want to miss these.
The Grand Opening: Welcoming your new favourite festival is The Grand Opening. On Friday, 28 October 2016 SA Cocktail Week is taking over the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village. There will be booze-specific pop-up bars creating anything you can imagine (drinks-wise) with the alcohol you love. Bootlegger Coffee Company will be in attendance to whip up the most delicious espresso martini you have ever tasted. We don’t know about you, but we have already started day dreaming about the drinks they’ll create. Jim Beam will also be there mixing the most tantalising bourbon cocktails ever, as will Mokai and Courvoisier.
A Toast to Summer: Cape Town loves the sun, and everyone knows the sun is best enjoyed on the beach with a drink in your hand. On Saturday, 5 November 2016, summer lovin’ will be taking over the Hotel School in Granger Bay. Once again, pop-up bars and live music will keep you entertained while you think about all of the awesome times you’ve had during the week. BOS Ice Tea will be creating some kind of delicious ice-tea based cocktail and launching their new cocktail range, exclusively at A Toast to Summer.
While it is not strictly an event, the official accommodation partner of SA Cocktail Week is Park Inn by Radisson Blu, and they have created an extra special cocktail for you all to enjoy. Part of the proceeds from SA Cocktail Week will be donated to Hands of Hope Centre in Parow, which is dedicated to helping those children that struggle with adapting to the mainstream education system. All children have a right to learn, and Hands of Hope is assisting those that need a helping hand along the way. All of the proceeds from the Park Inn cocktail, A Glass of Hope, will be donated to this very worthy cause! They are also offering ten percent off any bed and breakfast booking during SA Cocktail Week. So have a few drinks, make your way back to a well-loved Cape Town hotel, lay your head on a comfy bed and prepare for the next day of your cocktail adventure!
There are plenty of other events on the cards during Cocktail Week, so head over to their website for all the juicy details!

Remember folks, drinking and driving is never an option. SA Cocktail Week is dedicated to drinking responsibly, and so have teamed up with Uber to generate a special code that will be valid for the entire ten-day festival.
