Cape Town, Joy Star Model Management Wants You!
John Casablancas is in SA in search of new talent; find out what he's looking for
John Casablancas, founder of world famous Elite Model Management is in South Africa and he wants you to show him why South African girls are super model material.
John has since founded Joy StarSystem, a sophisticated network of model scouts all over the world, and it is for this reason that he is bringing the Joy Star Model competition to South Africa.
With agencies from Europe to the Middle East in its network Joy Star Model Management represents many of the world’s most well-known supermodels and strives itself on finding new, fresh faces each year. The agency has the most powerful model scouting process in the industry which helps them reach this goal.
Names like Cindy Crawford, Stéphanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen all have one thing in common, these big name models all made their first steps into the world of modelling through John Casablancas.
South Africa is famous for, amongst other things, its beautiful women. Many South African beauties have been successful models. However, there has never been a global Supermodel that has come from South Africa. John Casablancas' JOY STAR MODEL / SOUTH AFRICA is about to change this.
Yearly, the Joy Star look team travel throughout the world seeking tomorrows top models. This year the contest is launching in South Africa, with a nationwide tour searching the country for new faces and ending at a national final gala held in September.
So what is John Casablancas going to be looking for in South Africa? He tells us his vision for the Cape Town stage of the Joy Star Model search.
“The girl I will be looking for will possess a natural sense of style, an elegant dose of sensuality, an attitude and a body language that expresses personality and individuality, some sense of humour, and above all, a lot of determination, energy and the ability to accept criticism, advice and rejection,” said Casablancas of his basic criteria.
When it comes to why John decided to search South Africa in his model search he speaks of it as a natural progression for the agency. “I used to visit South Africa regularly in the 80's, I was always amazed at the beautiful women I would meet or come across in the streets,” he mused. “I look forward now to begin discovering the beauties of all races that … abound in South Africa. It’s time for a true South African Supermodel.”
Casablancas adds that Cape Town and Capetonian women have a certain air about them. Casablancas describes Cape Town women as “having that very unique nonchalant and elegant charm of a city that is blessed by nature. I felt that there was a very definite sparkle of playfulness and sensuality in the eyes of many of the gorgeous women I met.”
Casablancas also had a few words of advice for the girls coming out to the castings and participating in the model search. “Be natural, be yourself, don't try to impress us. Look us into the eyes, try to stay calm and show us that there is creativity and originality in you. Don't let anybody tell you that ‘you don't stand a chance’. Most people don't have a clue about what it takes for us to choose a young beginner and often have a completely wrong idea about what model agencies are looking for.”
John Casablancas will be in South Africa in February | March 2010 to attend and judge the Joy Star Model South Africa 2009 contest.
Castings will take place in October 2009 as well as at additional castings session taking place closer to the final event in 2010.
You could be the next supermodel! Head down to the casting in Cape Town to be spotted.
