Bickley four star guesthouse situated in Sea Point, Cape Town, is a quiet getaway indulgence for anyone looking for a place to stay for a reasonable price close to beaches, the waterfront and central city.
Restaurateur and interior design fundi Owner, Jonas Sandstrom from Sweden, opened this stylish guesthouse in 2003, and since then it has achieved not only four star accreditation by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, but the building has also been classed as a national monument in Cape Town.
Bickley House is said to have been built in the late 1700’s by Admiral Lord Nelson as his private hunting house.
There is a beautiful pebble stone terrace that once was a stable, and pots used for the plants are actually thought to have been the old drinking troughs for his horses.
A great feature of Bickley House is the amount of space outside with its large mosaic and all white designed pool, quite unusual for city property in Cape Town.
Bickley House can also be utilised as a family getaway, and many tourists choose this guesthouse in Cape Town as their home base for weeks, and even months.
Relaxing in Bickley House after a hard day of traveling and exploring Cape Town and surrounds is really easy.
Take a revitalising shower in the large walk-in shower in your room, have a swim in the saltwater pool, enjoy a drink in your private courtyard or next to the pool or curl up on the couch in the lounge area with a book, DVD or television.
The bedrooms are a combination of beautiful neutral and minimalistic colours, colourful overstuffed pillows and African décor and design mixed with contemporary and modern elements, setting the atmosphere for urban African tranquility and relaxation.
Each bedroom has its own private courtyard with tables, chairs and umbrellas, perfect for having a private dinner or lunch with your family.
There are en-suite mosaic bathrooms and walk-in showers, heated towel railings, ample cupboard space and heaters and extra blankets for more chilly evenings. Two bedrooms, as well as the lounge has free wireless internet for your convenience.
Delicious continental breakfasts are served from 8h00 to 10h30 daily and is included in your price.
Bickley House offers excellent dinner recommendations for some of Cape Town’s best restaurants to try out. All facilities are available for an excellent Braai.
Bickley House has an excellent outside BBQ grill should you want to have a braai by the pool for example.
One could call this a home away from home, since there are no staff during the evening, and guests are left to their own enjoyment. Should there be a question, the guesthouse manager is only a call away.
Rooms are priced at R1090 for a double room and R 840 for a single. During low season rooms are R790 for a double and R540 for a single room.
Children under the age of 2 years cost R50 extra per night, and children under the age of R13 will cost R300 extra to your costs per day.
