In an exciting new development, the Tru-Cape sponsored Kogelberg and Packhouse Challenge has moved to Grabouw this year. With a mission to highlight the beauty of the famed fruit growing region, the trail race will take place on Saturday, 29 August 2015, and promises much in the way of gorgeous vistas and diverse routes.
Heralding in the start of spring, the race route has been meticulously planned by Tru-Cape’s quality assurance manager and runner, Henk Griessel. According to Henk, “We will have a 21.1km, 10km and 5km route. Start times will be staggered with 21.1-km runners leaving at 7:30am then 10am and finally, the 5-km walkers and runners leaving at 11:30am. The route has single tracks and many Jeep-track climbs and descents but the stunning view makes up for the sweat.”
Not to mention, the lovely dorp is situated on the border of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, a registered UNESCO heritage site that boasts a range of breathtaking views as well as fauna and flora to admire, and is considered one of the Western Cape’s most popular holiday destinations. Better still, Grabouw is a mere hour’s drive from Cape Town, meaning that the fertile valley can be reached with ease.
