Saturday Psyde Show ft. Bizzare Contact
A “Bizzare” encounter at Cape Town’s latest trance club
The Cirque du Monde Ibhongolwethu Project is run by Zip Zap Circus School in conjunction with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and consists of a series of circus arts workshops sponsored by Cirque du Soleil.
Instructors from Zip Zap Circus School travel to Khayelitsha twice a week to teach ground-based circus acts such as mini-trampoline, tumbling and juggling to children living with HIV receiving antiretroviral treatment.
The programme culminates in an annual performance on World AIDS Day, held at Khayelitsha's OR Tambo Hall. This performance is designed to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS, and to encourage an attitude of acceptance and understanding in the community and beyond. Besides boosting the children's self-esteem and fitness, it guarantees a lot of fun.
Performers participating in this year's World AIDS Day show are between 4 and 15 years old. The 24 performers all loved showing off their skills during the rehearsal show and after a few more weeks of hard work, are greatly looking forward to dazzle young and old.
This year there will be 2 shows, both starting at 14:00 and include juggling, tumbling, lunatricks (incredible stunts involving a mini trampoline), a comedy act, gumboot and other dances.
We are proud to announce that proceedings will be lead by Chantal Stanfield, well-known actress, singer and dancer.
The Khayelitsha show will be preceded by branch awards and an item (music or dance) put together by the Treatment Action Campaign.
