Saturday Psyde Show ft. Bizzare Contact
A “Bizzare” encounter at Cape Town’s latest trance club
There is no better way to celebrate the New Year in Cape Town than getting an uninterrupted view of the Mother City in all of her natural beauty from the top of Table Mountain.
With a buffet styled dinner at the restaurant or bring your own picnic – either way, being on top of Table Mountain this New Year’s Eve is going to be magical.
Take advantage of the Table Mountain Sunset Specials to get a panoramic view of the fireworks setting off in Cape Town.
Want to surprise someone with that special thing to do? Want to have a romantic ‘romp’ at the highest tip of Cape Town, or just be romantic and watch the sunset? During November 2010 to February 2011 tickets for the Table Mountain cable car are half-price after 18h00 - This is valid on return tickets only.
High-altitude fun for the whole family:
Table Mountain is the perfect destination for families looking to get up and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cable cars whizz up the mountain in less than 5 minutes, and with a passenger capacity of 65 per car, you’re virtually guaranteed to travel together. But if the more energetic members of your family want to hike their way to the top, there’s lots to keep the rest busy while they wait.
An elevated stroll:
The three visitor walks along the top of the mountain are neither long nor strenuous, and can be combined so that everyone in the family gets to see as much (or as little) as you want. The Dassie Walk promises spectacular views to the north, south and west. The Agama Walk will provide you with 360° aerial views of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula, while the Klipspringer Walk takes hikers along the edge of the plateau to the top of Platteklip Gorge. All these walks are on level ground and are easy to navigate, while more lengthy options are available for the more adventurous.
Free guided walk are also on offer at 10:00 and 12:00 daily. The walks depart from the sign posted meeting point outside the Top Station building.
Family fare:
All that exercise is guaranteed to build up an appetite, and there are meals and snacks for all ages available at our Café. The youngsters might enjoy a Dassie Pizza at the Table Mountain Café, while older visitors can savour some authentic South African cuisine, or a steaming cuppa at the coffee bar. You can grab a table for the whole family at the Café, or if you want to savour the wide open spaces, you can get some readymade packs from the Gourmet Deli and head out in search of the perfect picnic spot. There is a selection of light meals and snacks available from the deli in the Café, and a tapestry of spectacular views to choose from on the mountain top.
After you’ve eaten, mums and dads can either grab a locally brewed draft of beer at the Cafe, or head off to the Shop at the Top for a bit of retail therapy at over 1000 metres. Gifts and souvenirs are available, to remind you of your special family trip.
Early to bed, early to rise:
The Cableway’s extended operating hours in summer make it easy for you and your family to decide when to ascend the mountain. If the children are early risers, why not catch the first cable car up at 08:00 and have breakfast at the Cafe before exploring the walks on offer? Alternatively, if you’re willing to let the little ones stay up past their bedtimes, you and your family can enjoy a spectacular sunset from the top before catching the last cable car down at 21h30 as you watch the city bowl light up in the dark.
Hikers:
If the idea of mountainous cliffs, steep drops and strenuous climbing blows your hair back, you might like to take the Cableway to the top and hike back down, or even hike both ways! Just remember that you won’t always be able to rely on the Cableway to get up or down (due to unpredictable weather conditions), so leave yourself enough time to hike to the top and back again before dark if needs be.
PLEASE NOTE: Special tickets cannot be bought online.
Table Mountain has introduced scrumptious Ride ’n Dine offers at the Summit Lounge and Table Mountain Café and, for the first time, we’re making tickets for these Ride ’n Dine offers available online.
The Sunset Special Ride ’n Dine special includes a return Sunset Special ticket and a food and beverage voucher.
Sunset Special Ride ’n Dine rates start from R165 per adult and R65 per child and are valid every day from 17:30.
