It’s that time of year again when the sun becomes a more permanent feature in the sky and the weather begins to shed its winter chill and it’s just in time for Oktoberfest! This year’s boisterous Bavarian bash is sponsored by Windhoek (the beer, not the city), and will take over Hillcrest Quarry from Friday, 20 to Sunday, 22 October 2017.
This is your chance to sample some of the best golden beverages from local and international breweries (think of the finest Namibian beers to quench the strongest thirst), paired with traditional German grub, games and garments. It’s definitely going to be a wunderbar festival, ja.
Attendees can expect traditional activities such as Stamm-sägen (log-sawing), Bierstemmen (beer lifting), Hau den Lukas (strong-man/ring the bell) and barrels more. All of these exciting activities will surely work up an appetite, so tuck into some hearty pork knuckle, giant pretzels, bratwurst and other fantastic fare. Wash it all down with ice-cold Oktoberfest Festbier, brewed specifically for this event. A range of Namibia Breweries Limited creations will also be on sale for those who’d love to sample the brews from our northern neighbours.
There is also a chance to win tickets to the Windhoek Oktoberfest in Namibia in 2018, including flights and accommodation, so grab your friends and family and enjoy a day of dancing, drinking and good, old-fashioned Bavarian fun in the sun.
That’s not all you’ve got to look forward to! The Windhoek Oktoberfest will offer the complete German Oktoberfest experience; dancers, costumes, traditional music, steins filled with beer and all the food you can imagine. The Kirchdorfer band (all the way from Munich) will be playing some authentic German tunes, and you’ll also be able to enjoy performances by Schuhplattler dancers. All in all the event promises to be a true German experience!
One of the exciting aspects of Oktoberfest is the dressing up in traditional Bavarian German outfits for the event. If you dress up in true Bavarian style you will get your first beer free. If you would like to partake and do not have the clothing at hand already, you can order a variety of outfits from our online store: http://eventsandmore.nutickets.co.za/oktoberfest
