Food immediately springs to mind from the mere mention of the name France… from ripe camembert to to cassoulet to mouth watering pâtisserie’s and vintage champagne, these all form part of the ‘French way of life.’
For the second year running Societi Bistro is bringing the best of Culinaire de France to Cape Town with its ‘Tour through France’ - a series of nine regionally-inspired menus over nine weeks in conjunction with top local wine estates.
Head chef Stefan Marais has thoughtfully composed the French menus, keeping in mind what is in season locally and adapted the traditional recipes accordingly. Slow cooked classics - cassoulet, la daube Nicoise and Beef Bourguignon ¨C - all traditionally French - are perfect comfort dishes for the wet Cape Winter and there are also some very refreshing classics once we head to Provence in the Spring towards the end of our tour.
Each Wednesday will see the launch of a new three course menu, paired with an exceptional local wine. The journey starts in the in centre of it all, Île-de-France - Paris on Wednesday 4 August 2010.
6 – 12 October: Burgundy | Hoopenburg Pinot Noir
13 – 19 October: South West | Oak Valley Blend
20 – 26 October: Cote d’azure | South Hill Rose
