Cbeebies chef to perform at The Good Food & Wine Show
Katy Ashworth takes kids entertainment from the field to the fork
Katy Ashworth may be new to TV, but the skilled actress, singer and musician’s warmth, likeability and humour has landed her the lead role, on a new flagship Cbeebies series, I Can Cook. She’ll perform at Cape Town’s Good Food & Wine Show, on 26th May 2011.
The series is aimed at getting under-sixes involved in the full cycle of food, from the field to the fork, and how the food on their plate connects to the world around them. Children learn how to grow it, cook it and eat it, accompanied by Katy’s original songs, which she sings and plays on her guitar.
Katy has a first class degree in drama from the University of Exeter and honed her improvisation and characterisation skills on a four week, intensive Commedia Dell’Arte course in Reggio Emelia, Italy. She was the head vocalist for her university jazz orchestra, choir director and president of the Universities Soul Choir and choir director for Rock Choir Plus Ltd, based at the Manor Pavillion Arts Centre, in Devon.
Katy Ashworth will perform at the Chefs in Action Theatre, on 26th May, at 11:00. Tickets cost R35 – R80 and are available from Computicket.
