Madame Zingara's Tent of Dreams returns to Cape Town
Back with a bang, Madame Zingara's Tent of Dreams puts the zing into Cape Town once again
It’s been a year since Madame Zingara left us for foreign shores. Now she has finally set sail for her hometown in South Africa. Come 1 September 2011, she’ll be back in Cape Town, bringing the "10 Years of Dreams" dinner cirque extravaganza along for the ride.
This grand dame of burlesque style has travelled the world for nearly a hundred years with her billowing velvet canopies and ornate booths, weaving tales through the night and through time.
Taste her magic, wonder and light through the Theatre of Dreams. With 1000-odd bevelled mirrors reflecting a million tales, the magnificent Theatre of Dreams will enthral all who pass through its stained glass doors.
The “dinnercirque” spectacular is produced and directed by the award-winning Richard Griffin and Valentina Love, who team up with local and international stars to find the hidden gems that made the Theatre of Dreams a household name.
The Tent of Dreams will be pitched at Century City at the beginning of September. The tent can host 420 people (Golden Circle: 120) and the menu offers four courses (antipasta, starter, mains, dessert and coffee). Of course, a selection of the Cape’s favourite wines are also on offer.
An honourable mention must go to Grethel Ferreira (Madame Zingara Theatre of Dreams Head Chef) and her talented troupe of thirty staff who create four hundred and twenty dishes that must be delivered to hungry customers within tight windows between the acts.
