The Good Food & Wine show bags Blumenthal

A culinary performance of gastronomic proportions

Celebrated molecular gastronomist and owner of Britain’s Fat Duck restaurant, Heston Blumenthal, will showcase his culinary alchemy, at the Good Food & Wine Show, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2011.

Blumenthal's scientific approach to cooking has earned his restaurant a 3-star Michelin guide rating and accolades including the best restaurant in the world by Restaurant Magazine, and the best restaurant in Britain by The Good Food & Wine Guide in 2007 and 2009.

Fans have followed an unusual and exciting, gastronomic journey that has included the modernisation of period dishes, experiments with edible insects and breaking culinary boundaries with his glow-in-the-dark pancakes and golden jellies.

Anyone care for snail porridge?

Heston will perform at the Samsung Chefs in Action Theatre and a limited number of VIP tickets will be available for those who want to meet the chef who made snail porridge a classic. These tickets include premium seating, a photo opportunity and a face-to-face book signing.

Heston's latest books including Heston's Fantastical Feasts, The Fat Duck Cookbook, In Search of Total Perfection and The Big Fat Cookbook, will not be included in the VIP price, but will be available for purchase at the show.

With more than 100 000 annual visitors, the Good Food & Wine Show is South Africa’s largest culinary event. The four-day exhibition features live demonstrations and hands-on cooking workshops with celebrated international chefs, as well as a showcase of gourmet trends, restaurants and wines.

At this year’s event, expect to rub shoulders with other culinary kings and queens including James Martin, Celia Brooks Brown, Jonathan Daddia and Atul Kochhar.

General entry tickets start at R350 and VIP tickets are R850. Book your tickets now at computicket.com or visit goodfoodandwineshow.co.za for more information.
