10 Questions For: Amy Louise Wilson

1.  How would you describe what you do for a living?

I dress up, put on makeup and try to convince people that I am someone else.

2.  What is your most vivid childhood memory?

 It's strange because I think the proliferation of photos in our lives starts to subtly shift our memories. But I remember when my parents hired a slippery slide for my birthday when I was a kid, and this other kid had an asthma attack because she wanted to go on the slide so many times. Her mom had to come and fetch her from the party. 

3.  If you could invite any three people, dead or alive, for dinner, who would they be and why?

Playwright Reza de Wet, Britney Spears and Judy Garland. Reza because she is my favourite playwright and I feel a deep connection to her. Judy Garland because I am so fascinated by her. She was such an unspeakably brilliant talent. And Britney because she would be enormously entertaining.

4. If you ever found yourself auditioning for a music reality TV show, what song would you 

sing and why?

Britney's 'Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman' is my go-to karaoke ballad, however I need a backup singer(s) so I can do the power harmony. 

5.  How would you complete this sentence?  

The South African cabinet should include a Minister of _____________________________.

Arts and Culture who has an understanding of Arts and Culture. That would be great. 

6.  What would you say is the biggest misconception about you?

A common misconception about actors is that we are loud, overbearing and extroverted. I prefer the drama to exist in my work rather than in my life and in fact I am quite shy.

7.  What is your (honest) opinion of Cape Town?

Cape Town is an extremely beautiful and vibrant city, but it is uncomfortably stratified. 

8.  What's the greatest fear you've had to overcome to get where you are today?

I think all artists battle with the fear of failure. A healthy amount of insecurity is not necessarily a terrible thing as it keeps one humble. 

9.   What's the one thing you'd like to achieve before you die?

I want to become famous enough to work with brilliant directors and shave off all my hair.

10.  Which well- known South African personality would you, without a doubt, be able to beat in a street fight and why?nbsp; 

I don't know about a street fight, but I wouldn't mind talking it out with Jen Su. I'm not a fan of women in the media who talk about other women's bodies or appearances.
